Kevin Alewine of Shermco and I presented at the American Wind Energy Association Operations and Maintenance Conference (AWEA O&M). The EMPATH data on just under 400 generators and powertrain resulted in 772 findings on a specific manufacturer’s generators.

The generator findings were different from the industry data. However, the EMPATH findings followed along with vibration data in most cases. The wye ring/rotor issues were also different as this particular design is less subject to stator wedge issues.
The pattern followed along with the over 1000 turbines tested in an 11-month period.
