We often ask ourselves about the attention we would like to have from company executives and get frustrated when reliability, maintenance and physical asset management is not at the forefront. Yet, many of us go to the gym – how often do you consider the reliability and maintenance of the ‘production equipment’ that you use. Just like the quarterback on a football team, at 2XL Powerlifting LLC (also branded 2XL Strength & Fitness and 2XL Events) the coaches and personal trainers receive the attention, the work behind the scenes to keep everyone safe is not considered. But, it must be done especially in extreme facilities, such as a powerlifting, strength sports training club and special needs personal training.
I have a hobby – well, now a hobby turned business – powerlifting and strength and fitness. My other company with my partner, Eric Stone, started as a powerlifting team and has rapidly expanded into running up to 12 local, state, regional, national and world powerlifting meets a year. We’ve gained a bit of a reputation for the efficiency and effectiveness of our meets which will draw up to 250 athletes in a weekend for state level meets and over 1000 for World level meets.
In the following video I take you through a walkthrough of what the equipment is put through and what some of the considerations are for a facility such as 2XL. I made mention and will point out that the injury I sustained was at another facility in Canada while I was traveling and not on 2XL equipment, which we maintain on a regular basis.
Enjoy!
